This is the kind of prank that people dream about. To think up and then execute such a brilliant way to get your least favorite coworker to quit on the spot is just *chef's kiss*. Perfection! 

This guy was working in construction when he managed to make someone rage quit on the spot, and do so in such a way that he could never get his job back. It's probably occurred to all of us at some point that quitting a job on the spot would feel so good. Telling your boss to go kick rocks and triumphantly walking out of the building is the kind of fantasy that some workers dream about all day long. 

It seems that this guy was duped into thinking he was suddenly rich. If you got rich tomorrow, would you quit your job? When I was working in retail jobs, I daydreamed about it all day long. You spend so much time at work that if you dislike your job, it's really going to impact your quality of life.

    trustworthysauce I like the story, not trying to start s there, but isn't it unethical to keep what you find in people's walls in any case? Like, if I inherited my dad's house when he passed suddenly and he had hid gold coins or bonds or something in the walls, I would think those would be mine. Not a perk for the construction guys doing the remodeling.

    Quillbolt_h I hope you don't take this the wrong way if this is true, but this story sounds a bit sketchy. He quit before getting the coins appraised at all? Even if he was sure they weren't fake, he couldn'tve known if they were worth anything. And how did he find the box? Why did he take it? Why didn't he wonder who would leave a box of antique coins on a wall? Why did he steal it? Plus you are coincidentally new to reddit? Sorry if I'm wrong, but it all sounds pretty sketch.

    trustworthysauce I wish you guys would remodel my wife's childhood home. That would be a great story. My wife has always been an avid reader, and her favorite author has been Stephen King since she was about 10. So when her dad remodeled their house when she was in 6th or 7th grade, she decided to hide a bunch of newspaper clippings with stories about missing people circled in red and weird personal trinkets in one of the walls. That's going to be fun for someone to find oneday.
